Flemming Schmidt was born and raised in Copenhagen, where he after having taken his law degree, took a degree in maritime law as his field of specialisation at Oslo University. He joined Danske Bank's foreign department and later he joined Rederiet Mærsk's corporate secretariat where he was employed for about 10 years.

 

In 1986 he moved to the maritime town of Svendborg and started up his own law firm. Flemming Schmidt provides advisory services to small and mid-size companies within national and international affairs and has conducted court and arbitration proceedings. Flemming Schmidt's clients include, amongst others, shipping companies, ship yards, services operators, manufacturing companies, trusts and insurance companies.
